The head of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, believes that by refusing to meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Turkey, russian dictator vladimir putin will destroy his own narratives about Ukraine's unwillingness to enter into peace talks. He stated this in a comment to journalists, RBC-Ukraine reports.
"I think putin will not come. But we must understand that with such a step they will destroy their own idea that Ukraine is doing everything to evade real, real peace talks. Our President took such a decisive step, directly said "that's all, I'm coming," and here it will no longer be possible to say that this is something else. In fact, they did not prepare for this," Budanov emphasized.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on May 11, russian dictator vladimir putin publicly stated russia's alleged readiness for bilateral talks with Ukraine. He proposed holding them in Turkey this Thursday, May 15.
Zelenskyy said he would personally wait for putin for bilateral talks.
At the same time, according to the American publication The Washington Post, putin's visit to Turkey is unlikely.
