Putin announces composition of russian delegation for talks with Ukraine in Istanbul

Russian president vladimir putin has approved the list of participants in the russian delegation that will take part in talks with Ukraine on May 15 in Turkey.

According to the russian administration, the head of the delegation has been appointed assistant to the president of russia Vladimir Medinsky. Together with him, deputy foreign minister Mikhail Galuzin, head of the main directorate of the general staff of the russian federation Valery Kostyukov and deputy defense minister Alexander Fomin will participate in the negotiation process.

Earlier, putin said that he intends to hold "direct negotiations" with Kyiv in Istanbul, on Thursday, May 15.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also confirmed his readiness for a personal meeting with the russian leader on that day in Turkey. After that, US President Donald Trump said that he did not rule out his own arrival in Istanbul on May 15.

Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andrii Yermak, commenting on putin's possible refusal to participate in the negotiations, noted: "if putin refuses to participate in the negotiations in Turkey, this will be the last signal of russia's unwillingness to end the war."

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on May 14, Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podoliak stated that any negotiations without putin would be meaningless.
