Turkish officials are not expecting a visit by US President Donald Trump on May 15, but they do not rule out the possibility of his arrival. It was reported to Bloomberg by high-ranking sources in the Turkish government on condition of anonymity, as the details of the planning remain confidential.
Ankara notes that preparations for a potential visit are underway — especially given the possibility that Trump could arrive with russian dictator vladimir putin.
As the publication notes, Trump’s presence may depend on whether putin will be at the meeting.
Recall, on May 11, russian dictator vladimir putin publicly stated russia’s alleged readiness for bilateral talks with Ukraine. He proposed holding them in Turkey this Thursday, May 15.
Zelenskyy said that he would personally wait for putin for bilateral talks.
Trump confirmed on May 14 that he was still considering attending talks on the Ukraine war scheduled for Thursday in Turkey, but he did not know whether putin would attend.
