US President Donald Trump criticized the European Union, saying that in some respects it is "worse than China" in terms of bilateral trade. This is reported by Politico.
Against the backdrop of the trade agreement reached between the US and China, the American leader expressed dissatisfaction with the EU's approach to economic relations with Washington.
Direct quote from Trump: "The European Union is worse than China in many ways. They will give in significantly. You will see. We have all the trump cards in our hands. They treat us very unfairly."
Earlier, the US President had warm words for the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, calling her "fantastic" and expressing hope for a meeting with her in the near future.
Recall that on May 10, the United States and China held their first official trade talks in a long time. According to media reports, Washington and Beijing may significantly reduce mutual tariffs - to a level below 60%. Trump also previously announced a "reset" of relations with China.
