Google has made the first change to the "G" corporate logo in a decade. The updated version appeared in the Google app for iOS - now the colors of the logo (red, yellow, green and blue) smoothly transition into each other, forming a gradient. This was noted by 9to5Google.
The new design of the "G" icon is closer to the visual style of the Gemini logo, which also uses a gradient. The publication notes that the change can be considered cosmetic, but it demonstrates Google's desire to unify its corporate identity.
The previous major change to Google's corporate identity took place in September 2015, when the company switched to a serif font and introduced a colored "G" logo with clear boundaries between colors.
So far, the updated "G" logo has appeared only in the iOS version of the application. The Android version and the company's website still use the old version with split colors.
Google did not say whether it plans to expand the updated logo to other platforms. The main six-letter Google logo has remained unchanged. It is also unclear whether the company plans to update the logos of other products, such as Chrome or Google Maps, which also use four-color elements.
Earlier it was reported that YouTube made the corporate color softer due to burn-in on screens.
