Russian president vladimir putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that putin rejects the possibility of a 30-day ceasefire if the West does not stop supplying weapons to Ukraine.
The Kremlin spokesman said this in an interview with ABC News.
According to him, putin allegedly supported the proposal for a 30-day "truce", but invented a new reason that prevents Moscow from adhering to it.
Peskov said that the Kremlin considers the implementation of this initiative impossible as long as "russian troops are advancing on the fronts and doing so quite confidently." And for the duration of the "truce", according to him, the supply of Western weapons from the United States and European countries should be stopped.
"This will be an advantage for Ukraine. Ukraine will continue full mobilization, will transfer new troops to the front line. It will use this time to train new servicemen and provide rest to those who are already fighting. So why should we give Ukraine such an advantage?" said putin's spokesman.
Peskov also claims that putin is supposedly "doing everything possible to resolve the problem peacefully and diplomatically," but in the absence of "peaceful and diplomatic means," Moscow is "forced to continue the military operation."
