The leaders of France, Poland, Great Britain and Germany arrived in Kyiv on Saturday morning to hold a meeting within the framework of the "Coalition of the Willing".
This was announced by the head of the President’s Office Andrii Yermak on the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"We are pleased to welcome the coalition of the determined in Kyiv. French President Emmanuel Macron, German Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and the Prime Ministers of Great Britain and Poland - Keir Starmer and Donald Tusk - have already arrived in the capital of Ukraine. A lot of work, many topics for discussion. We must end this war with a just peace. We must force Moscow to agree to a ceasefire," he wrote.
At the railway station, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk was met by Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and the head of the President’s Office Yermak.
Following Tusk to the capital by train were the new German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and French President Emmanuel Macron.
It is noteworthy that Ukrainian officials greeted their guests in formal suits.
The European leaders were in high spirits and smiling.
Security measures were seriously tightened at the railway station.
On May 9, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said during a speech to participants in the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) summit that a meeting of the leaders of the "Coalition of the Willing" countries, an association of states that are ready to deploy their troops on the territory of Ukraine to ensure compliance with a possible peace agreement, would take place on May 10.
According to him, serious work lies ahead.
"We need this coalition, and it must be strong enough to guarantee security in accordance with our common vision," the President said.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, delegations from 35 countries arrived in Lviv on May 9 for Europe Day.
The European delegation was led by EU High Representative Kaja Kallas.
The visit began with a tribute to Ukrainian heroes who sacrificed their lives defending Ukraine from the russian federation at the Lychakiv Cemetery.
