A military parade to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory Day in World War II is taking place in the russian capital on Friday. The parade is being held under heightened security measures, including the shutdown of mobile internet, online banking and other similar services. Radio Svoboda reports this.
"This year's parade will be the largest since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, although more modest than other anniversary parades," the report says.
The parade is attended by leaders of many countries, including China, Turkmenistan, Slovakia, Belarus, Serbia, Brazil, Armenia, Cuba, Mongolia, Equatorial Guinea and Venezuela. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Laos' Thonburi Sisoulith did not arrive (the official reason for the coronavirus disease), and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not come to moscow (the stated reason is the conflict with Pakistan). A total of 29 world leaders confirmed their participation in the moscow events, but at the last moment some of them refused to visit.
It is also reported that the military from the DPRK is sitting in the front row of the stands on Red Square.
Recall, the day before, the kremlin announced that the leaders of 29 states, including China, Brazil, Kazakhstan, Serbia, Belarus and Azerbaijan, would allegedly come to the parade in moscow dedicated to Victory Day.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on May 6, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine stated that the russian federation had invited foreign military personnel to the parade in moscow in order to "whitewash the war crimes" of its army and justify aggression against Ukraine.
Last Sunday, May 4, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andrii Yermak, published a picture depicting the destroyed kremlin and numerous UAVs in the sky over moscow.
We also wrote that due to fears of the russian leadership, mobile Internet in moscow will be restricted for three days and some public transport will be stopped.
