In the 1st quarter, the Vodafone Ukraine mobile operator (PJSC VF Ukraine, Kyiv) reduced net profit by 24% to UAH 697 million compared to the same period in 2024.
The company has said this in a statement, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
It is noted that the decrease is due to the implementation of the restructuring of Eurobonds, an increase in investments and taxes.
According to the results of the first three months of the year, Vodafone increased revenue by 14% to UAH 6.59 billion.
The main growth factors were: an increase in the volume of data services and the number of Internet users and, accordingly, income from services - both mobile and fixed.
It also caused a 5% increase in OIBDA - in the first quarter of 2025 this indicator is UAH 3.34 billion.
The increase in the use of data services also led to an increase in the ARPU indicator - in the 1st quarter of 2025, the average revenue per user amounted to UAH 128.2 per month.
The OIBDA margin remains at a high level - 50.7%, the fluctuation compared to the 1st quarter of 2024 is 4.6 pp and is mainly due to such objective factors as the increase in the cost of electricity and costs for increasing the energy stability of the network, as well as an increase in the rental fee for the use of the radio frequency spectrum.
At the beginning of 2025, Vodafone almost doubled its investments in infrastructure.
Investments during the 1st quarter of 2025 reached UAH 1.59 billion.
In total, over the past three years since the start of the full-scale war, Vodafone has invested more than UAH 17 billion in Ukraine in the development of the country's telecommunications infrastructure.
The subscriber base has remained stable over the past three years (-0.6% compared to Q1 2024).
In Q1 2025, the company notes an increase in the number of contract customers - mainly due to new IoT connections and an increase in the number of private contract subscribers.
In February 2025, Vodafone Ukraine Group successfully completed the restructuring of Eurobonds and redeemed bonds worth almost USD 100 million; the remaining liabilities are USD 300 million.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in 2024, the Vodafone Ukraine mobile operator (PJSC VF Ukraine, Kyiv) reduced its net profit by 30%, or by UAH 1.529 billion, to UAH 3.544 billion compared to 2023.
In March 2020, Vodafone (UK) signed a partnership agreement with the Vodafone Ukraine mobile operator to continue using the Vodafone brand in the work of the Ukrainian company for the next 5 years.
On December 3, 2019, Bakcell (Azerbaijan) completed the transaction to purchase the MTS telecommunications company of the Vodafone Ukraine mobile operator (formerly MTS-Ukraine) for USD 734 million.
Bakcell is part of the NEQSOL Holding group of companies, founded by Azerbaijani Nasib Hasanov.
