Family sheltering 10 cats killed during shelling of Kyiv. One of them found alive, but with burns

A family of volunteers - an elderly woman and her son, who kept ten cats at home - were killed as a result of a russian missile strike on the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv.

As reported by the Kyiv Animal Rescue Group, they were called to the scene of the tragedy by the deceased’s friend.

Rescuers found the bodies of two people and five cats in the apartment. Another cat - alive, but badly burned - was found under the window.

“Outside, under the window, our rescuers found a live, badly burned cat. It was probably thrown out by the blast wave.

The cat was urgently hospitalized by the KARG rescuers with burns over most of the body and severe lung damage,” the animal rescuers reported.

The animal is currently in the intensive care unit of a veterinary clinic, in an oxygen chamber.

"This cat lost its home and family, almost lost its life. Please help us save it. We will be grateful for every donation," the volunteers added.
