Millionaire judge of HACC Markiyan Halabala sued for reducing alimony for his only son to UAH 1 - Posternak

Judge of the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) Markiyan Halabala, with a monthly income of UAH 250,000, tried to reduce alimony for his only son to UAH 1. The court did not support his lawsuit and ruled in favor of his ex-wife. This was written by political expert Oleg Posternak.

"A judge of the HACC with an income of UAH 250,000 per month sued his ex-wife for alimony for his only son - he wanted to pay UAH 1. In 2023-2024, Markiyan Halabala sued his ex-wife for reducing the amount of alimony for the maintenance of his son from UAH 22,720 to UAH 1 (!) (case 760/10525/23). Allegedly, he was unable to control the intended use of funds, so there was no need to pay at all. The court, of course, refused, because this is too much even for a lawless colleague," Posternak wrote.

The expert clarified that according to Halabala's declaration, the judge of the HACC's annual salary was UAH 2.5 million, another half a million - income from interest and alienation of securities and corporate rights.

"That is, UAH 3 million of income per year alone is UAH 250,000 per month. Alimony for the only son, respectively, is less than a tenth of the salary. And there are also savings of more than UAH 1.6 million. To demand UAH 1 of alimony is completely outrageous from the side of Halabala," he emphasized.

Posternak also cited other facts from the judge's biography.

"Halabala is a modern Koreiko of the judicial system. According to media reports, any mention of Halabala defending former minister Yanukovych, known for the largest bribe in the history of Ukraine, Mykola Zlochevskyi, as well as the Party of Regions MP Onishchenko, is now being cleaned from Google,” he said.

According to the expert, moral issues are important in relation to judge Halabala.

"These people judge others on behalf of the state, so their decisions depend, among other things, on personal beliefs. And if the judge is indifferent to a minor son, then we are unlikely to be surprised by their decisions in favor of criminals, when the air smells of possible material gain. After all, that's not all - I will soon tell you about the very interesting details of the case of judge Halabala separately," he noted.

In general, scandals in the anti-corruption triangle NABU-SAPO-HACC are increasingly coming to the surface.

"Something is rotten in the state of Denmark," the expert concluded.

It was previously reported that HACC judge Markiyan Halabala illegally received official housing, despite the fact that he was provided with housing in Kyiv. He also failed to indicate a number of other information in his declaration.
