The Israeli leadership has approved a plan to significantly expand the military operation against the Hamas terrorist group in the Gaza Strip.
It was reported by the Israeli publication The Times of Israel.
Last Sunday, May 4, the country's military and political leadership approved a plan to expand the military operation. It involves the complete capture of the Gaza Strip and maintaining control over it.
According to the plan, the Israel Defense Forces will take control of the Gaza Strip, move the enclave's residents to the south, strike Hamas forces and prevent the terrorists from seizing humanitarian aid.
All security cabinet officials voted unanimously in favor of expanding the military operation.
The implementation of the plan will begin only after US President Donald Trump visits Israel. His arrival is scheduled for next week.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in mid-March this year, the Israel Defense Forces launched a limited military operation in the Gaza Strip to force Hamas to release hostages. Shortly before that, Israeli forces resumed airstrikes on the enclave due to the terrorists' refusal to release the hostages.
