US President Donald Trump has ordered the reopening of the federal prison at Alcatraz to house "America's most ruthless and violent Offenders".
He announced this on X.
"REBUILD, AND OPEN ALCATRAZ! For too long, America has been plagued by vicious, violent, and repeat Criminal Offenders, the dregs of society, who will never contribute anything other than Misery and Suffering," the message says.
Trump stressed that in the past the United States "was a more serious Nation" and "did not hesitate to lock up the most dangerous criminals, and keep them far away from anyone they could harm.”
"Today, I am directing the Bureau of Prisons, together with the Department of Justice, FBI, and Homeland Security, to reopen a substantially enlarged and rebuilt ALCATRAZ, to house America’s most ruthless and violent Offenders," the American President said.
In his opinion, the restoration of Alcatraz will become a symbol of Law, Order and JUSTICE. He also added: "We will no longer be held hostage to criminals, thugs, and Judges that are afraid to do their job and allow us to remove criminals, who came into our Country illegally."
Reference. Alcatraz is a federal prison on Alcatraz Island, which operated from 1934 to 1963. The island is located 1.25 km off the coast of San Francisco in California, US. During the 29 years of operation of the prison, there was probably no successful escape. After its closure, the island was converted into a museum.
