US develops sanctions against Gazprom and russian banks - media

The US authorities have prepared new economic sanctions against russia, aimed at the energy and banking sectors, since Moscow has not agreed to Donald Trump's peace agreement.

This was reported by Reuters, citing its sources.

According to them, the sanctions are aimed at Gazprom and other companies that extract natural resources.

As Reuters notes, the developed sanctions are designed to put pressure on russia to force the russian authorities to support the efforts of US President Donald Trump to conclude a peace agreement in the russian-Ukrainian war.

"This is entirely his decision," said one of the unnamed American officials.

US National Security Council spokesman James Hewitt told Reuters that Trump "has made it clear from the very beginning that he is committed to achieving a full and comprehensive ceasefire."

"We do not comment on the details of the current negotiations," Hewitt said.

The US Department of the Treasury, which enforces most US sanctions, did not respond to a Reuters request for comment.
