As a result of a massive attack by the Defense Forces of Ukraine on the russian Novorossiysk on the night of May 3, an enemy Su-30 fighter jet was shot down.
This was reported by the official Telegram channel of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
"The historic strike was carried out by soldiers of the special forces of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense Group 13 with a Magura unmanned sea platform missile. The multi-purpose fighter of the aggressor state of russia, whose estimated cost is about USD 50 million, burst into flames in the air and eventually fell into the sea - to the bottom of the possessions of the ruthless "Neptune," the Defense Intelligence reported.
"The successful strike on the enemy combat aircraft took place in the water area near the port in the city of Novorossiysk, where the russians hide the remains of their Black Sea Fleet," military intelligence emphasized.
As the authors of the Defense Express portal write, the aircraft was destroyed approximately 50 km from the city using an unmanned boat, which was armed with an anti-aircraft guided missile of the R-73 type.
About the installation of Soviet R-73 air-to-air missiles with an infrared guidance system on MAGURA unmanned boats last year, the Defense Intelligence officially reported. Thanks to this, in December, the operators destroyed the first air targets - two russian Mi-8 helicopters.
Russian propagandists also write about the defeat of their aircraft. The russians report that the Ukrainian drones worked according to the "lure-catch" tactic. According to their information, the pilots managed to eject, after which "they were picked up by civilian sailors."
"The enemy admitted the loss of its aircraft, and here, first of all, it is worth noting that this is the first combat episode in history when a fighter jet and an aircraft in general was destroyed by a surface drone armed with anti-aircraft missiles," the publication added.
Recall, as Ukrainian News Agency reported, on the night of May 3, russia announced a powerful attack on the occupied Crimea and several regions of the russian federation. In particular, explosions thundered in Sevastopol, Feodosia and Kerch.
