The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has asked the US Department of State to comment on the words of the spokesman of the American department about the termination of Washington's mediation in the negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow.
This was reported by the spokesman of the Ukrainian ministry, Heorhii Tykhyi.
These are the words of the representative of the Department of State, Tammy Bruce, that the US is leaving the role of mediators in the peace talks.
"We confirmed that her comment about the US role as a mediator was made in the context of her similar comment made earlier this week," Tykhyi said.
Earlier, the US stated that they would step back from the role of mediator if there is no progress in the negotiation process between Ukraine and russia.
Tykhyi emphasized that Bruce's words were not a new position of official Washington, but only a repetition of what was said earlier.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, yesterday, May 1, the US Department of State announced that Washington would no longer act as a mediator in negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow.
The US foreign policy department noted that now is the time when Ukraine and the russian federation must develop and present their own steps to end the war.
Recall, on April 30, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Kyiv is ready for any format of talks with Moscow regarding the end of the war.
