US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has become one of the most powerful players in the president's cabinet, taking the fourth position in the Trump administration after Mike Waltz was fired as national security adviser.
This is reported by The Guardian.
Thus, the publication notes that Rubio, whom Donald Trump ridiculed as "Little Marco" during the 2016 Republican primaries, has become one of the most powerful players in the president's cabinet.
The American President appointed Rubio as interim national security adviser on Thursday after Mike Waltz was forced to leave this position along with his deputy Alex Wong, because, according to sources, officials had lost confidence in their leadership.
It is noted that Waltz is under great pressure after the scandal with Signal, when he inadvertently included a journalist in a chat that contained operational information about US strikes in Yemen in real time.
Meanwhile, Rubio, the son of illegal Cuban immigrants, currently holds four positions in the Trump administration. Rubio is also the acting administrator of USAID and the acting archivist of the National Archives and Records Administration.
Thus, Marco Rubio became the first person since Henry Kissinger to simultaneously hold the positions of national security adviser and secretary of state.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, according to Fox News, the US President's national security adviser Mike Waltz was fired along with his deputy Alex Wong due to the discussion of classified information on the Signal messenger.
Trump announced that Waltz, who was fired the day before, will become the US Ambassador to the UN.
