As of May 2, 2025, farmers in all regions of Ukraine have sown 3.25 million hectares of spring grain and leguminous crops.
This is stated in a message from the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
It is noted that the largest area of crops is corn - 1,919,300 hectares, barley – 715,200 hectares, spring wheat has already been sown on 207,900 hectares, peas – 205,700 hectares, oats – 156,000 hectares.
Buckwheat has been sown on an area of 7,000 hectares, millet – 6,000 hectares.
Industrial crops have been sown on an area of 3,432,000 hectares.
Of these: sunflower - 2,364,800 hectares; soybeans – 729,200 hectares; sugar beets – 217,300 hectares.
Leading regions in terms of sowing rates: Poltava Region: 429,600 hectares (wheat – 4,500 hectares, barley – 69,100 hectares, peas – 9,600 hectares, oats – 3,100 hectares, corn – 343,100 hectares); Kirovohrad Region: 300,500 hectares (wheat – 3,000 hectares, barley – 35,400 hectares, peas – 18,700 hectares, oats – 500 hectares, corn – 238,300 hectares); Kyiv Region: 241,600 hectares (wheat – 25,000 hectares, barley – 40,400 hectares, peas – 4,500 hectares, oats – 5,000 hectares, corn – 163,000 hectares); Sumy Region: 225,800 hectares (wheat – 21,500 hectares, barley – 18,200 hectares, peas – 5,800 hectares, oats – 9,800 hectares, corn – 168,700 hectares);
Cherkasy Region: 217,300 hectares (wheat – 2,000 hectares, barley – 30,200 hectares, peas – 5,000 hectares, oats – 800 hectares, corn – 179,100 hectares).
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, as of April 25, 2025, farmers in all regions of Ukraine had sown 2 million hectares of spring grain and legume crops.
In 2025, it is planned to sow more than 5.7 million hectares of spring grain and legume crops, which corresponds to the level of 2024.
The main feature of the new season will be an increase in the area under spring wheat to 227,500 hectares.
