US Vice President JD Vance believes that the end of russia's full-scale war against Ukraine should not be expected anytime soon. This position contrasts with the statements of President Donald Trump, who previously promised a quick cessation of hostilities.
Vance stated this on Fox News, BBC writes.
The Vice President emphasized that the United States is now trying to help find a compromise that would allow ending the war, but further developments depend only on Kyiv and Moscow.
"Now that each side knows the terms of the other's peace, it depends on the russians and Ukrainians. It depends on them whether they reach an agreement and stop this brutal, brutal conflict," Vance said.
At the same time, he was skeptical about the prospects for a quick end to the hostilities.
"This is not going anywhere, Bret. This is not going to end anytime soon," the Vice President said, addressing Fox News host Bret Baier.
Vance also defended Donald Trump's approach to resolving the conflict, emphasizing the need to avoid further casualties.
"Yes, of course, [the Ukrainians] are angry that they were invaded. But are we going to continue to lose thousands and thousands of soldiers over a few miles of territory this or that way?" he said.
Recall that even before his election as President, Donald Trump assured that he would be able to quickly end the war between russia and Ukraine by bringing the parties to the negotiating table.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on April 30, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Kyiv was ready for any format of talks with the aggressor country, russia, to end the war.
