Washington has given the green light to the possible sale of 400 AIM-120D3 medium-range air-to-air missiles to Poland, along with related equipment, for a total of USD 1.33 billion.
Yevropeiiska Pravda reported this with reference to a statement by the Pentagon's Security Cooperation Agency, specifying that the relevant submission has already been sent to Congress.
The explanatory note to the decision states: "The proposed sale will contribute to achieving the goals of US foreign policy and national security by strengthening the security of a NATO ally, which is a force that ensures political and economic stability in Europe."
The Agency emphasized that Poland already has missiles of this type, so there will be no problems with the integration of new weapons.
Recall that Poland intends to expand the production of anti-personnel mines, which will later be installed on the border with russia and Belarus as part of the Eastern Shield program.
Meanwhile, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned of a possible threat from Belarus due to russian exercises this summer.
