From May 1, 2025, NATO will begin an institutional audit of Ukrainian higher military educational institutions that are part of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
The press service of the Ministry of Defense has reported this.
The audit will be held in several stages and will be financed by Lithuania. The first step will be the transfer to the universities of the compliance and evaluation criteria, according to which the certification of professional military education courses will be carried out.
In May, the institutions must prepare self-assessment reports and fill out special questionnaires on compliance with NATO standards.
From June to September, Alliance experts will study the provided materials, and in the fall they will arrive in Ukraine for an in-person assessment. The final report on the audit results is expected in December 2025.
If the audit results are positive, this will allow Ukrainian military courses to be certified according to NATO standards. Thus, documents on their completion will be recognized in the Alliance member countries.
The Ministry of Defense notes that this will contribute to the integration of Ukrainian military education into the Euro-Atlantic space and the interoperability of educational structures.
The audit is being carried out with the support of the NATO DEEP program, which already promotes the training of Ukrainian specialists in the areas of leadership, language training and combat experience.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, German intelligence warns: russia may start a large-scale conflict with NATO by the end of the decade.
US President Donald Trump also stated that Ukraine could "forget about NATO."
