Pakistan considers using nuclear weapons in case of Indian invasion

Pakistan is considering the possibility of using nuclear weapons in case of a full-scale war with India, which Islamabad believes is preparing for an invasion.

Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif said this in an interview with Reuters.

"We have strengthened our forces because it is inevitable. In this situation, some strategic decisions need to be made, and these decisions have been made," Asif stressed.

According to him, the Pakistani military has informed the country's government about the possibility of an Indian attack amid New Delhi's increased rhetoric.

Asif did not go into details about the reasons why he believes an invasion is inevitable.

He also stressed that the Pakistani armed forces are on high alert and are ready to use nuclear weapons in the event of a "direct threat to our existence."

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on April 22, a terrorist attack occurred in the mountainous Pahalgam region of the Jammu and Kashmir administration, killing 26 tourists.

This region has been at the epicenter of a territorial struggle between Pakistan and India for the past 70 years.

New Delhi said that militants linked to Pakistan were involved in the killing of the tourists. Islamabad denied any involvement in the incident.

In response, India withdrew from the Indus Waters Treaty, closing the gates on dams located on its territory. Pakistan had previously stated that it would consider such actions an act of war.
