Air Force lost Su-27 fighter jet, pilot ejected

On the morning of April 28, an Air Force Su-27 fighter jet was lost while performing a combat mission, the pilot successfully ejected, the causes of the incident are being investigated by a specially created commission. The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced this on its Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"On the morning of April 28, 2025, while performing a complex combat mission to provide air support to troops and repel an air attack by enemy strike UAVs, an Air Force Su-27 fighter was lost. The causes of the incident are being investigated by a specially created commission that has already begun its work. The pilot successfully ejected, the search and rescue team arrived at the landing site in a timely manner, the pilot was taken to a medical facility for diagnostics. His life and health are not in danger, his condition is stable," the report says.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on April 12, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that 26-year-old Ukrainian pilot Pavlo Ivanov was killed while performing a combat mission on an F-16 aircraft.

The Su-27 (NATO classification - Flanker) is a Soviet heavy multi-purpose highly maneuverable all-weather fourth-generation fighter. Created to gain air superiority. Officially adopted in 1990.
