A peace agreement between Ukraine and its adversary should be based not on trust, but on facts, actions and real security guarantees.
This was stated by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
"Well, I don't think peace agreements are built on trust. I think peace agreements should be built on verification, on facts, on actions, on realities. So it's not a question of trust. It's a question of building these kinds of things, verification, security guarantees, things that have been discussed in the past," he noted.
"What we are trying to do is end a war that has cost a lot of money to us, to our allies, cost a lot of lives ... We just want all this to stop," says @SecRubio.

Rubio added that discussions are currently underway on these aspects.
"But now is not the time, if we are trying to bring the two sides closer, the last thing you want to do is give one side a reason to abandon these efforts. We are just trying to achieve peace," the Secretary of State emphasized.
He also emphasized that the United States seeks to end the war, which has claimed many lives and required significant financial costs from the United States and its allies.
"We just want this to stop. And we are trying to understand if we can play any role in making that happen," Rubio explained.
In conclusion, he expressed hope that US President Donald Trump will be able to achieve an end to the war.
"It may not work. Peace agreements are hard to come by. But we are trying, and I think the President deserves praise for spending so much time, energy and resources to try to achieve a peaceful outcome," the Secretary of State concluded.
