The McDonald's fast food restaurant chain has denied media reports about the return of its establishments to the aggressor country of russia. The company announced this on X.
Yesterday, information began to spread online about the possible return of McDonald's to the russian federation, which was caused by a wave of publications by russian media about the McDonald's corporation filing an application for re-registration of trademarks in russia in December 2024.
"Intellectual property is one of our most valuable assets. McDonald's regularly renews ownership of its trademarks around the world, even in countries where the company does not conduct any activities. We do this to protect our brand and prevent third-party businesses or individuals, particularly in russia, from using our trademarks in their interests," the company explained.
The corporation stated that its position on business in the russian federation is clear and remains unchanged.
McDonald's was one of the first international businesses to condemn russia's armed aggression against Ukraine and leave the russian market, announcing the sale of the chain in May 2022. This decision is a testament to the company's values, and we remain true to these values," the company added.
Recall that McDonald's previously brought back breakfasts.
