CIA confirms death of deputy director's son in Ukraine, likely fighting on russian side

The US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has confirmed the death of Michael Gloss in the war against Ukraine. He was the son of CIA Deputy Director for Digital Innovation Julian Gloss.

A spokesman for the agency stated this, as the NBC News portal reported on Saturday, April 26.

According to him, 21-year-old Michael Gloss did indeed die during hostilities in Ukraine, but it is not specified on whose side he fought.

The CIA added that the family had experienced an "unimaginable personal tragedy" and noted that Gloss had mental health problems.

"CIA considers Michael’s passing to be a private family matter for the Gloss family — not a national security issue," the press secretary said.

On April 25, the russian publication Vazhnye Istorii (Important Stories) reported that the son of the deputy director of the US Central Intelligence Agency, Michael Gloss, who signed a contract with the russian army, was killed in the war against Ukraine.

According to the media, Michael told a friend that he joined the russian army to get a russian passport, not to fight. According to him, russian citizenship was supposed to help him "achieve his life's purpose" – to build an infrastructure for oxidizing water in a supercritical state.

The publication wrote that Michael Gloss was killed on April 4, 2024, but the circumstances of his death remain unknown. He was buried on December 21 in the United States. The family learned about his death only two months before.
