President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump did not meet for the second time at the Vatican on April 26. Trump returned to the US after the funeral of Pope Francis.
RBC-Ukraine has reported this, citing sources.
As the agency's source noted, the continuation of the meeting between Zelenskyy and Trump did not take place.
"But they discussed the main thing," the source said.
According to the interlocutor, the continuation of the meeting did not take place because the US President still planned his schedule in such a way as to leave immediately after the funeral of Pope Francis.
Sky News reported that Trump managed to meet with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and then go to Fiumicino Airport.
Sky News also published a photo of Trump and his friends from the airport.
Meanwhile, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked his American counterpart Donald Trump on Telegram for the "symbolic meeting" in Rome before bidding farewell to the Pope.
"A good meeting. We managed to discuss a lot in person. We hope for a result from all the things that were said. Protection of the lives of our people. A complete and unconditional ceasefire. A reliable and lasting peace that will prevent a recurrence of war.
A very symbolic meeting that has the potential to become historic if we achieve joint results. Thank you, President Donald Trump!", Zelenskyy stressed.
After the farewell ceremony with the Pope, the President of Ukraine held a one-on-one meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron. They discussed further peace efforts.

Today, on April 26, a farewell ceremony for Pope Francis, who died on April 21, was held in the Vatican. More than 50 world leaders attended the funeral, including President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US leader Donald Trump.
