Ukraine arrested a foreign ship of the "shadow" fleet of the aggressor country of russia, which was illegally exporting looted Ukrainian grain through Crimea. The Prosecutor General's Office announced this on the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
In particular, it is reported that a foreign ship was detained in the internal waters of Ukraine, which had previously been arrested for violating the procedure for entering and leaving the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine, with the aim of causing harm to the interests of the state (Part 2 of Article 332-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The pre-trial investigation established that in November 2024, a dry cargo ship under the flag of a foreign country illegally exported more than 4,600 tons of wheat, probably seized by representatives of the aggressor state in the temporarily occupied territories of the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson Regions, from the Sevastopol commercial sea port closed by Ukraine. Agricultural products were transported to third countries using the occupied Crimean peninsula.
In April 2025, after loading in the port of Moldova, the vessel followed the territorial waters of Ukraine, while passing through the waters of the Danube River, the dry cargo ship was detained by law enforcement agencies.
During the search of the vessel, navigation equipment, a computer, mobile phones, ship documentation and other documents confirming the commission of the crime were seized.
The Prosecutor General's Office recalled that since July 15, 2014, Ukraine officially stopped the functioning of all ports in the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol.
In turn, the Security Service of Ukraine reported that the detention of the dry cargo ship occurred as a result of a special operation by the SSU and the State Border Guard Service in the internal waters of the Black Sea area of Ukraine. In order to hide the crimes of the occupiers, the vessel carried out an illegal raid under the flag of one of the Asian countries.
After the arrest of the dry cargo ship and the detention of its crew, investigative actions are ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the Kremlin's crimes and bring the perpetrators to justice.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine continues to expose the schemes of the "shadow fleet" of the aggressor country of the russian federation, as well as the captains of these vessels. Currently, the Foreign Intelligence Service has more than 300 captains of the "shadow fleet" of the russian federation in its sights.
