During massive attack on Kyiv, over 16,000 people take shelter in metro

On the night of April 24, more than 16,000 people, including 1,660 children, took shelter in the Kyiv metro stations during the massive combined shelling. This was reported by the metro press service.

Kyiv Metro reminded that 46 underground stations operate in shelter mode around the clock. During the air alert, all lobbies are open without exception. The staff on duty gives out modular benches, folding chairs, blankets and mattresses. At the same time, metro employees advise taking warm clothes with you when going to the station at night.

Also, this night, the Lukyanivska station was damaged for the fifth time, in particular, the glass dome and facade were damaged, a part of the chipboard was torn out by the shock wave, and the name of the station was cut off.

"Metro specialists are actively working to eliminate the consequences. Some areas of the lobby are temporarily fenced off. At the same time, passenger transportation is taking place safely, the station is operating according to the schedule in the usual mode," the press service added.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on the night of April 24, russian troops launched a combined strike on Kyiv, using missiles of various types and kamikaze drones. As of 9:00 a.m., nine people were killed and more than 70 were injured, including children.
