Talks to end russia-Ukraine war in London postponed – Sky News

Top diplomats from the UK, US, France, Germany and Ukraine have postponed a meeting in London scheduled for Wednesday, April 23, for high-level talks on how to end russia's war.

It was reported by Sky News.

It is indicated that discussions between senior officials from the five countries will take place instead, although Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha will still be in the capital and will hold a bilateral meeting with David Lammy.

The postponement of the talks came amid increasing pressure from Donald Trump and his team on Ukraine and russia to achieve a ceasefire. In particular, the US peace proposal, which was to be discussed in London, provides for the United States to recognize the illegal annexation of Crimea by russia - which was rejected by Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio was due to arrive in London to meet with Lammy and the foreign ministers of Ukraine, France and Germany, but on Tuesday it became known that he would no longer go.

As soon as this happened, Paris and Berlin also seem to have suspended the relevant plans of their ministers. At the same time, there is a possibility that the meeting at the ministerial level will still take place in the near future.

Instead, US Special Representative Keith Kellogg will take part in discussions in London with senior officials from France and Germany.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on April 21, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that a new round of peace talks with the participation of representatives of Ukraine, Britain, France and the United States would take place on April 23 in London.

The so-called "final" peace agreement that the US handed over to Ukraine provides for the recognition of Crimea as part of russia and the recognition of control over the occupied territories. However, the document’s security and recovery guarantees for Ukraine are extremely vague.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy denied that the United States had officially proposed recognizing annexed Crimea as russian, although American representatives had discussed such ideas. He stressed that Ukraine does not legally recognize the occupation of Crimea.
