Ukraine will not recognize occupation of Crimea, there are no official US proposals on this — Zelenskyy

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has denied that the US officially proposed to recognize the annexed Crimea as russian, although American representatives discussed such ideas.

The head of state said this during a briefing for journalists, Suspilne reports.

Zelenskyy noted that "signals" regarding the recognition of the annexed Crimea as russian are being heard, but it is unclear whether they come from American officials or from the russians.

"Ukraine does not legally recognize the occupation of Crimea. There is nothing to talk about here. This is outside our Constitution. This is our territory," Zelenskyy added.

At the talks in London, the Ukrainian team has a mandate to discuss an unconditional or partial ceasefire, as well as readiness after the ceasefire for negotiations with russia "in any format".

Regarding control over the occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP, Zelenskyy said that this is possible only if Ukrainian technical workers are present at the station.

Recall, according to the Washington Post, at a meeting in London on April 23, US representatives plan to discuss with Ukrainian and European officials a peace agreement that provides for the recognition of Crimea as russian and a ceasefire along the current front line.
