US Vice President J.D. Vance has said he is "optimistic" about the possibility of achieving peace in Ukraine, as US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Washington was ready to walk away from the talks due to lack of progress.
This is reported by Sky News.
"Since there are the negotiations I won't prejudge them, but we do feel optimistic that we can hopefully bring this war, this very brutal war, to a close," he told reporters during a meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in Rome.
Meanwhile, Trump previously said that he felt a ceasefire was "close" and that moscow would respond to his recent offer soon, but Rubio this morning threatened to "move on" if immediate progress was not made.
As Ukrainian News Agency reported, CNN reports that Rubio "reported the views" of US President Donald Trump with his comments that the US may abandon attempts to conclude a peace agreement between russia and Ukraine.
