Defense Minister Umerov says Kyiv supports Trump's peace initiative "by 90%"

Defense Minister Rustem Umerov told American officials that Kyiv "by 90%" supports President Trump's peace initiative, presented in Paris by the United States, the media wrote.

A high-ranking representative of the US presidential administration, in particular, has stated this in a comment to the New York Post.

A source in the American publication notes that next week in London they plan to make a decision on a full and comprehensive ceasefire.

“I think part of the concern they’ve got is on the land … just what they call ‘de jure’ and ‘de facto,'” the administration official said. “‘De facto’ mean we recognize the Russians occupy this land, but we don’t say [Ukraine is] going to give it up forever. ‘De jure’ means we acknowledge that [the Russians] take in this land and we’ll never see it back again,” the article says.

The NYP writes that in order to bring russia to the negotiating table, Special Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff could offer moscow a carrot” in the form of easing sanctions — and possibly unfreezing frozen assets, the senior official said.
