From 1992 to 2019, Ukraine lost 165 air defense systems. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this during a conversation with journalists, Ukrinform reported on Thursday, April 17.
Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine had fairly dense protection, which was provided by 225 air defense systems in 1992. According to him, this number decreased every year.
"You know, 225 air defense systems in Ukraine in 1992. And most of the systems went somewhere in the period from 2000 to 2019. By 2000, Ukraine had 168-169 out of 225. And by 2019, we had about 60 left," Zelenskyy said.
At the same time, Ukrainian air defense was sold to both the Middle East and the russians, the President emphasized.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on April 6, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed Ukraine's partners and called for the implementation of agreements on air defense.
On April 6, Yurii Ihnat, head of the communications department of the Air Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reported that russia had changed the tactics of missile strikes on Ukraine.
