First Vice Prime Minister - Minister of Economy Yuliya Svyrydenko reported a positive step with the US regarding the economic partnership agreement and the creation of an investment fund for the reconstruction of Ukraine. Svyrydenko announced this on Facebook, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"Our technical teams worked very thoroughly together on the agreement - there is significant progress, the lawyers made the right accents in the draft agreement, thanks to the negotiators in both teams. Now we have agreed with the American side to record this positive in the relevant memorandum of intent - we are preparing to complete the formalization of the agreement in the near future," she said.
Svyrydenko noted that the teams will still work on specific points in the agreement, a lot has already been worked out, and the level of the agreement should be quite high.
She emphasized that the agreement will be subject to ratification by the Verkhovna Rada, will provide opportunities for investment and development in Ukraine, and will also provide conditions for tangible economic growth of Ukraine and the United States.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Cabinet of Ministers has created a delegation for negotiations with the US government on the implementation of joint projects, headed by Svyrydenko.
The Cabinet of Ministers instructed the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Justice to involve consultants in preparing Ukraine's negotiating positions on concluding an Agreement with the US on the establishment of a Reconstruction Investment Fund by April 15 and allocated UAH 113 million for this.
