SSU detains russian agent who was supposed to eliminate Ukrainian Armed Forces commanders at Yavoriv training ground

The Security Service detained a "double" agent of the aggressor country, the russian federation, in the Lviv Region, who simultaneously worked for the FSB and the russian military intelligence (GRU). The enemy accomplice turned out to be an instructor at the Yavoriv training ground. This is stated in the SSU report.

According to law enforcement officers, the attacker's task from the russians was to prepare terrorist attacks against Ukrainian Armed Forces commanders who, together with their units, were undergoing combat training at the local Defense Forces training center. The agent received freedom of action from the curator to choose the method of eliminating the Ukrainian military.

Thus, according to one of the "scenarios", the traitor was supposed to make an improvised explosive device (IED), and then secretly plant it in the headquarters or training building.

The agent also developed a variant of using his colleague's "secret" information, which was to bring a disguised explosive to the commanders' training location.

Another method of assassination considered by the "mole" was a missile strike by the russians at the coordinates of the current concentration of Ukrainian defenders at the training ground.

The SSU military counterintelligence uncovered hostile intentions in advance, documented them and detained the traitor when he was preparing proposals for his liquidation for his supervisor.

Also during the investigation, law enforcement officers established the traitor's contacts with the supervisor from the FSB. At his direction, the agent collected information about the number and specifics of the units training at the Yavoriv training ground.

During the searches, 3 phones with SIM cards were seized from the detainee, which he used to hide contacts with the occupiers.

Based on the evidence collected, the Security Service investigators informed him of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law).

The perpetrator is in custody without bail. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in Dnipro, counterintelligence of the Security Service detained another agent of the aggressor country, the russian federation. The perpetrator spied on military echelons and corrected russian missile and drone strikes on the regional center.
