Germany announces new aid package for Ukraine: Iris-T air defense, Patriot missiles and Leopard tanks

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has announced a new defense aid package for Ukraine.

He announced this before the start of the meeting in the Ramstein format, The Guardian reports.

The package will include four Iris-T anti-aircraft missile systems, missiles for Patriot systems, 15 Leopard 1 tanks, reconnaissance drones and 100,000 artillery shells. In addition, it is planned to supply another 1,100 ground surveillance radars.

Pistorius also noted that in the future Ukraine will receive additional Iris-T systems. The possibility of licensed production of missiles in Ukraine is being discussed separately.

Regarding the potential participation of European troops in peacekeeping missions in Ukraine, the minister refrained from commenting, noting that such topics are "better not to discuss publicly".

Recall that US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth will participate in the next meeting of countries that will meet to support Ukraine's self-defense (the "Ramstein" format) via video call, although it was previously reported that he would not participate in "Ramstein".
