Shmyhal outlines "red lines" in mineral agreement with US

The "red lines" for Ukraine in the mineral agreement with the United States of America are primarily the Ukrainian Constitution.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this during a press conference with representatives of the European Commission.

"We really have certain "red lines". First of all, this is our Constitution. The second is our European aspirations and our European obligations, this is another "red line", as well as international legislation. We also understand that this should be a partnership agreement, with equal conditions for both parties," he said.

Also, according to the Prime Minister, Ukraine approves the composition of the technical delegation and cooperates with international law firms.

"At the end of this week, we will send our delegation to the US with a lawyer. And, I think, technical negotiations will continue this weekend and next week, and then we will see the results. We are optimistic," he informed.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, next week, the Ukrainian team will travel to Washington to negotiate a new draft agreement that will provide the US with access to valuable mineral resources.
