Ukraine ready to zero out tariffs on goods from US – Kachka

Deputy Minister of Economy - Trade Representative of Ukraine Taras Kachka said that the country is ready for negotiations with the US on the abolition of tariffs on American products.

Ukrinform reported this with reference to Kachka's interview with Ekonomichna Pravda.

According to him, Ukraine imports products from the US worth USD 3-4 billion.

Duties on these products are either low or non-existent.

“We are ready to zero out tariffs on American products. I think we will talk about this with the US administration at the first opportunity: according to their calculator and approach, that is how it should be,” Kachka assured.

The Deputy Minister added that Ukraine seeks to avoid aggravation of relations with the US and does not plan measures in response to American tariffs.

“We all know how delicate our dialogue with the US is on other tracks. "Our interest is to cancel the tariffs, not to escalate them," the official concluded.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, according to First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yuliia Svyrydenko, the new American tariffs will amount to 10% for Ukraine, which is a significantly lower figure compared to other countries.

Small producers will suffer the most, but there are opportunities to review the terms of bilateral trade in the future.
