US President Donald Trump has announced a 90-day pause in the new tariff system for everyone except China - for which the American President raised the tariff to 125% and left it in force.
He reported this on Truth Social.
"Based on the lack of respect that China has shown to the World's Markets, I am hereby raising the Tariff charged to China by the United States of America to 125%, effective immediately," the message said.
Trump added that he hopes that in the near future, China will understand that "the days of ripping off the USA, and other Countries, is no longer sustainable or acceptable."
"Conversely, and based on the fact that more than 75 Countries have called Representatives of the United States, ... and that these Countries have not, at my strong suggestion, retaliated in any way, shape, or form against the United States, I have authorized a 90 day PAUSE, and a substantially lowered Reciprocal Tariff during this period, of 10%, also effective immediately," he added.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the day before, China increased new tariffs on all American imports to 84%, thus taking a step in response to US President Donald Trump's tariffs.
Recall that Bill Ackman, an American billionaire and founder of the Pershing Square hedge fund, who previously supported Donald Trump, called on Trump to take a timeout and review the tariff system introduced by the US President, which will take effect on April 9.
