Ukrainian military captured two Chinese citizens who fought as part of the russian army in the Donetsk Region. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"Our military captured two Chinese citizens who fought as part of the russian army. This happened on the territory of Ukraine - in the Donetsk Region. There are documents of these prisoners, bank cards, personal data," he reported.
Zelenskyy added that Ukraine has information that there are significantly more such Chinese citizens in the units of the occupier than two.
"We are now clarifying all the facts. Intelligence, the SSU, and the relevant units of the Armed Forces are working," he noted.
Zelenskyy reported that he instructed Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha to immediately contact Beijing and find out how China is going to react to this.
"Russia's involvement, directly or indirectly, of China in this war in Europe is a clear signal that putin is going to do anything but end the war. He is looking for ways to continue fighting. This definitely requires a reaction. A reaction from the United States, Europe, and everyone in the world who wants peace," he noted.
Zelenskyy added that the captured Chinese citizens are in the Security Service of Ukraine, and relevant investigative and operational actions are ongoing.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in January, Zelenskyy reported that the Defense Forces captured two North Korean servicemen in the Kursk Oblast.
