Air Forces explain why Patriot cannot cover large areas

The Patriot anti-aircraft missile system, which is in service with the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, cannot "cover" large areas from russian missiles. This air defense system is capable of working on aerodynamic targets (aircraft, cruise missiles) within a radius of up to 150 km, but Patriot can only shoot down ballistic missiles within a radius of several dozen kilometers.

Yurii Ihnat, the head of the communications department of the Air Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reported this on his Facebook page.

"It is impossible to protect large areas from "ballistics", given that we do not have so many Patriots," he explained.

It is reported that russia's modernization of cruise missiles complicates the operation of even the most modern air defense systems, in particular the Patriot air defense system.

"Of course, in the process of war, the enemy is modernizing air attack means (UAVs, cruise and ballistic missiles), which, in turn, complicates the work of our air defense, including Western systems. The key word is complicates, not makes impossible!" he wrote.

He also noted that the Air Forces servicemen are doing everything possible to shoot down as many russian missiles and drones as possible.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the russian federation has changed the tactics of missile strikes on Ukraine, the enemy is modifying its missiles and drones and has begun to use ballistics more.

Earlier, the White House released a report on a telephone conversation between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy, according to which the American leader agreed to help with the search for additional Patriot systems "especially in Europe."
