Private remittances to Ukraine continue to fall sharply and in February decrease by 17.3% to USD 0.7 billion

The volume of private remittances in February decreased by 17.3% and amounted to USD 0.7 billion.

This follows from a statement by the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), the Ukrainian News agency reports.

Wages received by Ukrainians from abroad decreased by 12.4%, while other private transfers received through official channels decreased by 20.5%.

Overall, 17% fewer transfers were sent through official channels than in February last year, while the flow through informal channels decreased by 17.7% compared to February last year.

In total, for January-February of this year, the volume of remittances decreased by 18.8%: net wages decreased by 20.5%, and private transfers decreased by 16.6%.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in 2024, the volume of private remittances decreased by 15.2% and amounted to USD 9.6 billion.

The volume of private remittances in 2023 decreased by 7.8% compared to 2022 and amounted to USD 11.6 billion.

In 2021, the volume of remittances to Ukraine increased by 25.4% year over year to USD 15.026 billion.
