Russian occupiers trying to bypass defense of Toretsk underground

Russian military are trying to bypass the fortifications around Toretsk in the Donetsk Region using underground routes to penetrate the rear of the Defense Forces.

This was stated by the speaker of the Khortytsia Operational and Strategic Troops Group (OSTG), Major Viktor Trehubov, on the air of the United News telethon.

The enemy tried to enter the rear of the defenders of Toretsk through underground communications. In particular, through the sewerage system. This is a new tactic of the russians, which they tested in Avdiyivka.

"This is also a priority direction, the russians there are trying to use all opportunities to bypass the Ukrainian troops," he noted.

Trehubov also clarified that the russians are trying to enter the city from different sides.

"If near Pokrovsk we have a situation where russia is trying to break through around the city, then in Toretsk it is purely urban fighting," the major explained.

As a reminder, the occupiers in the Toretsk area of Donetsk Region are trying to mislead Ukrainian UAV operators. They are putting green tape on their clothes, which is used by the Ukrainian Defense Forces as an identification mark.

In early February, the Khortytsia OSTG stated that in the Toretsk area, the russians are overwhelming the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with "meat assaults."
