At the moment, there is no breach of the Ukrainian border by russian troops in the territory of the Sumy Region, but small assault groups of the enemy continue to operate.
The spokesman for the State Border Guard Service, Andrii Demchenko, reported this during a telethon.
"In the direction of the Sumy Region at the moment, despite Russia's statements that they have broken through the Ukrainian border, this is not the case. In fact, the enemy continues to use small assault groups," said Demchenko.
Demchenko explained that opposite the territory of the Kursk Oblast occupied by the Defense Forces, the russians have accumulated their forces "quite large in terms of personnel and equipment", with which they are trying to knock out Ukrainian troops from the Kursk Oblast.
"And the enemy is trying to use these same forces, but in the form of small assault groups, in the direction of the settlements of Novenke and Zhuravka. I cannot rule out that the enemy will try to use the same tactics in the direction of other settlements, in fact trying to expand the combat zone along the border or across the territory of Ukraine," the spokesman said.
He noted that currently there is no record of the enemy using equipment and armored vehicles in the direction of the Ukrainian border.
"Because, for example, some time ago in the direction of the settlement of Zhuravka the enemy also tried to break through our border using columns of equipment, and then on the approaches to the border these columns were destroyed together with assault groups," Demchenko said.
He also noted that in the Chernihiv Region this year no attempts were recorded to enter by sabotage groups from the territory of the russian federation, although last year there was such activity.
"Currently, sabotage and reconnaissance groups are most active in the Sumy Region. If earlier we recorded attempts to deploy such sabotage and reconnaissance groups in the north of the Sumy Region, closer to the Chernihiv Region, then in the last few weeks several attempts have been recorded in sections closer to the Kharkiv Region," said the spokesman for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
He added that currently there is no strike group on the territory of Belarus that could pose a threat to Ukraine.
