The Danish Security and Intelligence Service (PET) reports on the increasing threat of extremist propaganda on social networks. According to the agency, terrorist groups are increasingly using the YouTube, Instagram and TikTok platforms to attract young people to their radical communities. This is reported by the local publication Slovo.dk.
The head of the PET Communications and Strategy Center, Michael Hamann, noted that the methods of spreading extremist ideas are becoming more sophisticated. Attackers disguise their messages as modern content, using memes and other mechanisms that encourage users to voluntarily share it.
"Vulnerable young people may not understand that by sharing such materials, they become part of an extremist ecosystem, which in the future may increase the threat of terrorist attacks," emphasized the head of the PET Communications and Strategy Center, Michael Hamann.
According to Hamann, artificial intelligence has made it much easier to create and distribute such content in any language. After initial contact on open platforms, extremists transfer potential supporters to closed groups with minimal control, where they distribute more explicit materials, including instructions and prohibited content, such as execution videos.
PET experts emphasized that at present this threat does not radically change the overall picture of terrorist risks for Denmark. However, they warn that in the future, if the situation does not change, this could become a major problem for state security.
As previously reported, russian occupiers forced a 14-year-old girl to commit a terrorist attack in Ternopil, blackmailing her with explicit photos.
