Over 550,000 hectares of grain already sown in Ukraine

As of March 28, 2025, farmers in all regions of Ukraine have sown 551,800 hectares of spring grain and leguminous crops.

This is stated in a message from the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

It is noted that the sowing of sugar beets and soybeans has also begun.

The message says that the largest area of ​​crops is barley - 315,500 hectares.

Spring wheat has already been sown on 79,800 hectares, peas - 102,900 hectares, oats - 50,700 hectares.

Sugar beets have been sown on an area of ​​17,800 hectares, and soybeans have been sown on an area of ​​600 hectares.

Leading regions in terms of sowing rates: Mykolaiv Region: 60,100 hectares (wheat - 3,000 ha, barley - 32,000 ha, peas - 24,500 ha, oats - 600 ha); Ternopil Region: 58,100 ha (wheat - 14,000 ha, barley - 36,800 ha, peas - 3,700 ha, oats - 3,600 ha); Vinnytsia Region: 53,000 ha (wheat - 10,400 ha, barley - 34,500 ha, peas - 7,000 ha, oats - 1,100 ha); Kirovohrad Region: 48,800 ha (wheat - 1,500 ha, barley - 29,700 ha, peas - 16,500 ha) and Volyn Region: 47,000 ha (wheat - 9,000 ha, barley - 14,000 ha, peas - 4,000 ha, oats - 20,000 ha).

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, as of March 13, farmers in 15 regions have begun sowing spring grain and leguminous crops and have sown 83,000 ha.

In 2025, it is planned to sow more than 5.7 million ha of spring grain and leguminous crops, which corresponds to the level of 2024.

The main feature of the new season will be the projected increase in the area under spring wheat by 28%, to 222,800 ha.
