AFU holding "sanitary zone" in Kursk Oblast and blocking enemy in north of Sumy Region - Syrskyi

The Armed Forces of Ukraine are holding a "sanitary zone" in the Kursk Oblast and blocking the enemy in the north of the Sumy Region. The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi announced this on Facebook, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"My respect to the soldiers in the Kursk Axis for their effectiveness and resilience. Thanks to you, we are holding a "sanitary zone" in the territory of the aggressor country, blocking the enemy on the northern border of the Sumy Region. I am sure that new offensives and new victories are ahead of us," he noted.

Syrskyi reported that due to the increase in the intensity of the enemy's actions and the enemy's attempts to displace and transfer hostilities to the territory of the Sumy Region, he worked in the Sumy Region in the brigades of the Airborne Assault Troops, marines, territorial defense, mechanized and some other units.

"Here, in the operational zone of the Kursk group of forces, our soldiers continue to conduct a defensive operation to prevent the enemy from breaking deep into the territory of Ukraine. With the same goal, the Ukrainian troops are carrying out effective counterattack and assault operations," he noted.

Syrskyi said that he had studied in detail all the problematic issues related to the organization of combat operations, and also made a decision to replenish ammunition, drones and move reserves.

According to him, in the seven and a half months since the start of the Kursk operation, the total losses that Ukrainian soldiers inflicted on the enemy amounted to more than 55,000 people, of which more than 22,200 were irretrievable, more than 31,800 were medical, and more than 940 were taken prisoner.

As Ukrainian News Agency reported, earlier, the spokesman for the State Border Guard Service, Andrii Demchenko, reported that russia, with the help of sabotage and reconnaissance groups, is trying to expand the penetration zone into the Sumy Region and transfer hostilities from the Kursk Oblast to the territory of Ukraine.
