Former Kyiv City Council member Denys Komarnytskyi left abroad under the cover of a camouflaged green car with the plate "200" - such cars are used to transport deceased Ukrainian soldiers.
This is stated in the investigation of Ukrainska Pravda.
Journalists found out that Komarnytskyi was helped in his escape by his friend Yurii Dovhalenko. He, in turn, turned to his three acquaintances, who organized the former council member’s departure abroad. All four were later found to have ID cards of public freelance employees of the operational unit of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU).

The men arrived at Komarnytskyi in two Toyota Land Cruiser cars with cover plates that are not in the police database. They took him from his house near Kyiv and drove to the west of the country.
Ahead of these cars was a green car with the plate "200" for transporting fallen soldiers. This car was supposed to be a reinsurance on the route. People from this car reported the situation at checkpoints to those driving behind. A Toyota Land Cruiser was driving behind the camouflaged car. It was also scouting the situation. And 30 kilometers away was a car in which a former official was sitting.

At a gas station near the city of Khust, Komarnytskyi was met by two employees of the Strategic Investigations Department of the National Police of the Zakarpattia Region. One of them, Vitalii Bezkrovnyi, who has also been detained, said that he had found a person who agreed to transport the former official across the border.

The information that allegedly regular SSU employees helped Komarnytskyi cross the state border is not true. Currently, the persons involved in this case have been detained by the special service itself, they have been notified of the suspicion. The persons detained by the SSU had the status of public freelance workers for less than 5 months (they were not on the staff of the special service and did not receive financial support). We would like to emphasize separately: they were deprived of this status in early February, before the events that are being investigated in the criminal proceedings. In cooperation with the NABU, a set of investigative (search) and procedural actions are being carried out aimed at identifying other persons involved in organizing the transfer of Komarnytskyi across the state border to Romania from the territory of Ukraine. In total, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the SSU has exposed 215 schemes for illegal crossing of the state border and reported suspicion to 1,869 persons involved in these schemes.
Recall that the other day in the Zakarpattia Region, three police officers who helped Denys Komarnytskyi to go abroad were dismissed. Komarnytskyi himself is involved in the case of the seizure of city land.
In February 2025, it was reported that Komarnytskyi, who is suspected by NABU of corruption schemes, is trying to leave Ukraine and is currently wanted.
