Trump to impose 25% tariff on all imported cars starting April 3

US President Donald Trump said that starting April 3, all cars imported into the country will be subject to a 25% tariff.

This is reported by NBC News.

Trump expects that after this, car manufacturers will build car factories in the country or expand the existing ones. He is also outraged that over the past decades, car manufacturers have built factories in Canada and Mexico.

"If you build your car in the United States, there will be no tariff," he said.

Despite this promise, the White House explained that foreign auto parts from which cars will be assembled in the United States will also be taxed at a rate of 25%.

However, companies importing cars under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) will receive special treatment until the Department of Commerce establishes a procedure for collecting the 25% tariff, the White House said.

Trump stressed that such tariffs would be "permanent."

Recall, US President Donald Trump promised to impose a 25% tariff on all goods from the EU.

He also announced the introduction of a 25% tariff on steel and aluminum imports, with no exceptions for any country.
